THE BABY TRAIN IS HERE! We had such an unforgettable trip on the Privateer this morning. We spotted a Gray Whale cow-calf pair at the beginning of the trip, followed by a BACHELOR POD of Common Dolphins! This pod was made up of ~50 beautiful, young adult males that sped alongside us together and began to cooperatively feed! We were very lucky to spot such an active group of males only a mile from shore. While we were watching the bachelor pod hunt for food, a second cow-calf pair of Gray Whales surfaced right beside us! They were cruising north along the coast of Pacific Beach and lunging forward at a quick pace. We were able to get a great, up-close look at this pair before making our way out west. Even more Common Dolphins (~150 individuals) were spotted out in deeper water at the end of the trip! It looks like the Gray Whale baby train has reached San Diego and we are ecstatic! Come see the new additions to the Eastern Pacific Gray Whale population as they pass through!!
