We’re kicking off the start of May with Minke Monday!!! While circling multiple pods, amounting to nearly 350 Common Dolphins this morning, one of our passengers spotted a large, dark back…it was that of a Minke Whale! The Privateer had gone months without a Minke sighting and we were fortunate enough to get some amazing looks at this individual! It exhibited a relatively consistent dive pattern, with two breathes at the surface, followed by a short dive. It even turned toward us and began to approach the boat, before diving down one last time. We found ourselves surrounded by even more Common Dolphins after leaving the Minke behind.
Fin Whales yesterday and a Minke today?! There must be something in the water…cetaceans, for sure! We are SO light on reservations tomorrow so we hope you’ll join us in the hopes that this variety continues.
