What a special treat we had today! Early into the trip we saw a small pod of about 50 common dolphins. We decided to check them out but after a few close passes, we saw something else swimming up the kelp line. We looked in the binoculars and were thrilled to see that it was a pod of roughly 25 Risso’s dolphins heading straight for us! This is an usual sight for us on the Privateer, especially so close to shore. They were swimming slowly up the coast, allowing us plenty of close viewing opportunities. Just goes to show that you should always expect the unexpected out there on the water!
