Today we learned that patience really pays off! On both trips today we decided to sail into “whale territory” and simply turn of the engines and wait for the big blues to come to us. It worked like a charm! Both trips got exceptionally close encounters with these gentle giants – 5 whales per trip! These whales were quite “cooperative”, showing tail flukes and taking loud breaths just feet away from our boat. These memories will last a lifetime. In the morning we were also fortunate enough to see a very young blue shark near the surface and in the afternoon we came across three mola mola and a pod of 200 common dolphins to cap off the day. If you’ve never been whale-watching before, there’s no excuse, get out here!
