Seems like everyone in San Diego county had the same idea today – to beat the 90-degree heat out on the Pacific! Due to popular demand, we ran both the Privateer and the Eclipse in order to allow even more passengers to experience the gray whale migration season.

In the morning we had four northbound gray whales and 300-400 active common dolphins in what I believe could have been a nursery pod with many, many calves. The Eclipse even saw a flock of close to 20 brown booby birds (it’s special to see just one off of San Diego)!

In the afternoon the dolphins were scarce, but we found eight more northbound grays, including one breacher, bringing the total for the day to 12.

Tomorrow is going to be another scorcher, so come play out on the water where it’s more comfortable!
