Happy February! We’re starting a new month with a bang and multiple Gray Whales! We spotted four southbound Gray Whales this morning, including one juvenile and a trio of two adults on either side of a smaller individual. During at least one surfacing, every single whale showed its flukes as they dove deeper in the water column. At the very beginning and throughout our first Gray Whale encounter, scattered Pacific White-Sided Dolphins were viewed across a wide range of water. Off the coast of Torrey Pines Cliffs, THOUSANDS of birds were observed along acres of ocean. Although they were foraging upon our initial approach, the food source seemed to dwindle quickly and the feeding behavior ceased. Overall, a great day was enjoyed by all! See you next time, whale watchers!
