In addition to beautiful conditions, we observed baleen whales and toothed whales on both of our trips today! In the morning, two separate pods of Common Dolphins were observed, amounting to ~300 dolphins in total for the trip! Sandwiched in between the dolphin sightings, we enjoyed a northbound trio of Gray Whales! They did not mind swimming beside us as we temporarily joined them in the longest mammal migration on Earth.
On the afternoon trip, we exited the jetties to immediately find ~10 Inshore Bottlenose Dolphins on their way toward the surf-line. Further from shore, we encountered a juvenile Humpback Whale in the middle of ~300 Common Dolphins! Finally, a pair of Gray Whales were observed traveling north along San Diego. It was a great day to be on the water, overall. Until next time, whale watchers!
