Blue whale Friday! The blue whales have arrived. Unexpectedly, we found 2-3 blue whales on both trips only a few miles from the coast in water around 260 ft. For a whale that’s nearly 100 ft. long that’s pretty shallow. They took short dives of usually between 4-7 minutes, lucky for us. We believe we had two adults and a juvenile in the morning and 2 adults in the afternoon. Also sighted on todays trips were a pod of around 120 common dolphins in the morning and around 320 in the afternoon! Both pods were very active, bow riding and riding in our wake. We also had a Mola mola in the morning and a brown booby and a trio of brown boobies in the afternoon. It was a very exciting day and hopefully the beginning of an exciting blue whale season!
