We can’t come up with anything better than being surrounded by surface active Offshore Bottlenose Dolphins on a sunny, calm day! A pod of ~50-70 bottlenose completely stole our attention today, just a few miles north of the border. I’m between instances of foraging behavior, the dolphins surfed, bow-rode, leaped beside us and breached in front of us! We spotted a few small babies and observed cooperative hunting techniques as the pod circled and packed bait together. After turning away from the bottlenose, we passed through a pod of ~100 Common Dolphins and waited for a mystery whale that popped up next to us but never resurfaced for a second look. We’re hoping to be just as lucky tomorrow! Until then, whale watchers!
