We enjoyed a full trip of dolphin activity this morning! Both Long-Beaked and Short-Beaked Common Dolphins were spotted during our three-hour trip. We first found a few dozen Long-Beaked Common Dolphins that were steadily moving toward the coast and intermittently slowing down to sweep through small bait-balls to feed. Out in deeper water, a pod of ~60-80 Short-Beaked Common Dolphins were also heading toward land, but they showed much more extensive surface activity! Both encounters were sprinkled with bow-riding behavior and the quick appearances of tiny calves. We will be offline tomorrow but we can’t wait to find out what the Pacific has in store for us on Thursday! Until then, whale watchers.
