HUNDREDS of Long-Beaked Common Dolphins and “Twitch” the friendly Humpback Whale were spotted on both trips today! Our two trips were nearly the same, as the wildlife hadn’t moved or changed between the morning return and afternoon departure. The young Humpback Whale was observed chasing Common Dolphins and mugging our boat with amazingly close passes! The wildlife continuously trended toward productive water filled with bait, and brief feeding frenzies of seabirds, California Sea Lions, dolphins and the Humpback Whale would form. As for a final count..1,000 Common Dolphins for the day! Tomorrow morning cannot come soon enough, as we’re all hoping that the activity continues through the night. Until then, whale watchers!
