Risso’s Dolphins, Long-Beaked Common Dolphins AND Short-Beaked Common Dolphins were all spotted on BOTH of our trips today! Each trip typically varies to some degree but we were lucky enough to relocate every bit of the morning wildlife on our second trip. The Long-Beaked Common Dolphins swam calmly within densely-packed pods while the Short-Beaked Common Dolphins acrobatically leaped into the air around us. The Risso’s Dolphins were in a mellow, graceful state today and they allowed us to make many close passes along them. We observed them form echelon formations beside us and spotted 2-3 newborn calves! This is the same pod we have recently observed and we know there is at least one new baby in the group from the last encounter we enjoyed. That’s all for now, whale watchers!
