We rocked and rolled through a dolphin filled morning! Such quiet conditions on the afternoon trip made it seem like we packed all the dolphins off San Diego into the first trip of the day! Despite the bumpy conditions, the visibility and lack of wind made for a great day for spotting wildlife! When we finally made contact with a pod of ~60 Short-Beaked Common Dolphins, the water was glassy, smooth and perfect for observing them sub-surface. Our passengers were able to watch as newborn calves followed their mothers to the bow, learning how to bow-ride! They were in a mellow state, but that made for some beautiful looks at our resident species of dolphin! That’s all until tomorrow, whale watchers!
