The conditions on the water were smooth as could be today and we were able to find various small pods of Pacific white-sided dolphins throughout the trip. Straight out of the jetties we found our first toothed whales of the day; a small pod of 4-5 inshore bottlenose dolphins. We then cruised up the coast close to shore looking for grey whales and found a few small pods of Pacific white-sided dolphins instead. Once we reached La Jolla we turned west to see what else we could find and at the drop off just to the south of us we found more white-sided dolphins along with black-vented shearwater and one northern fulmar (pictured). We couldn’t locate any baleen today but we couldn’t have asked for any nicer water conditions. We are offline tomorrow but will be back Thursday after the storm. Come on out!
