We just had our first grey whale of the season! Whoohoo! We’ve been waiting on these winter visitors as they make their way down to Baja for calving and mating. Not only did we have our first grey whale of the season but we had 3 different species of dolphin throughout the trip nearly from dock to dock. As we made our way through mission bay we encountered one inshore bottlenose dolphin right off the bat. Once past the jetties we encountered feeding aggregation after feeding aggregation of birds and both common dolphins and pacific white-sided dolphins. As soon as we got to the drop off we got word of a grey whale close to shore and made our way in to find it. We got multiple close looks at it and we were super excited! On our way in we again found the bottlenose dolphins which rode the bow with us back through mission bay. Its officially grey whale season, come on out!
