It was a dolphin day out on the Pacific! During the morning trip, we encountered some amazing feeding frenzies all along the drop-off. Some amazing California Brown Pelican dives were sighted as they plunged into the 25-foot bait ball! We encountered pod after pod of Long-beaked Common dolphins. We estimate there were about ~300 total throughout the entire trip. During the afternoon, we encountered more scattered pods of Long-beaked Common dolphins cruising south. There were mini feeding frenzies seen all the way from 1-5 miles from shore. We cruised out west and found a small pod of ~15 Short-beaked Common dolphins that quickly zoomed past us. On our way back, we found two more pods of Commons, putting us at a grand total of ~300 dolphins!
Hope to see you on the next one!
