Monday’s aren’t so bad when you spend it on the Pacific ocean! Today, we had a great trip cruising out to deeper water! We found ourselves about ~13 miles from Mission Bay and sighted some pretty awesome Long-beaked Common dolphins. They were observed feeding underneath some diving birds. While enjoying the feeding frenzy, we sighted a very tall columnar spout! It turned out to be a Fin whale that was slowly moving to the west. We got some great looks as it didn’t leave us. We turned to go home and another Fin whale popped up in front of us! Fin whales tend to be found in social groups of 2 or more!
Fin whales have been a common sight lately, so if you haven’t seen one, come on out!
