We were feeling Blue on the Privateer this Monday…but we were okay with it! We hung out with two BLUE whales out near the drop-off today. Many of the Blues we’ve been seeing are exhibiting feeding behaviors but this pair was in travel mode. They were slowly cruising at 5mph to the SW. They synchronized their breaths as they surfaced side-by-side! One of the whales became curious and surfaced within 50-ft from the boat! A single Bottlnose was sighted at the jetties, and a single California sea lion was trying to steal the Blue whale show by popping up right next to us.
