Beautiful Day on the water this afternoon! Only 3-miles from shore, we found our first pod of Long-beaked Commons feeding under diving birds! California Brown pelicans, terns, and gulls were all diving into the water feeding on small schooling fish. We found ourselves along the drop-off and kept cruisin out to the west. We got out to 11-miles from Mission Bay and came across pod after pod of Common dolphins! Our total for the day was about 300-400 Long-beaked Common dolphins. Lots of babies were spotted as they cruised next to the boat. Our biggest pod with close to 200 Common dolphins raced toward us and completely surrounded us! A big kelp paddy with yellowtail and a mola mola was spotted too! We hope you’ll join us for the next one!
