In two trips today we first went southwest in the morning where we encountered several feeding pods of long-beaked and short-beaked common dolphins as well as a Mola mola. For our second trip we decided to venture north to the La Jolla canyon where we found feeding pods of a few hundred long-beaked common dolphins as well as three Molas!

On the sunset trip, we cruised straight out to the west and encountered an amazing pod of ~200 Long-beaked Common dolphins that were feeding. They were seen stampeding all around us! They would simultaneously launch out of the water in any direction. So many cow/calf pairs were seen porpoising beside the boat! The sea conditions were so glassy and smooth.
