It was a Blue whale and Common dolphin kinda day! 🙂 We enjoyed catching up with a single and different Blue whale on each trip! During the morning trip, the Blue whale was cruising up the coast just outside the drop-off at 4mph. We encountered about 100 Long-beaked Common dolphins that popped up right in front of us. They cruised over to check out us and began bow-riding and surfing in our wake. During our afternoon trip, we set out to the NW and outside of La Jolla, close to 9-miles from Mission Bay, we sighted a spout nearby. We got amazing looks as it was traveling south and had short dive times of 4 to 6-min. On our last view, the Blue whale mugged us and surfaced beside us. A pod of ~100 Long-beaked Common dolphins raced toward us and then stampeded away. On our way back, we caught up with the same pod and they raced toward us and began to bow-ride and surf in our wake.

It was a wonderful day on the water! We hope you’ll join us soon!
