It was a FIN-tastic Friday! We had two great trips with lots to see! We set out to deeper water on both trips and encountered both baleen and toothed whales! During the morning trip, we found an amazing couple of pod of Long-beaked and Short-beaked Common dolphins! Lots of babies were sighted all around! We continued to the SW and hung out with a Fin whale! It surfaced next to the boat allowing us to get some amazing looks! In the same area, a Blue whale surfaced right after! During the afternoon trip, we zoomed out to SW and along the way, we sighted a fun pod of ~100 Short-beaked Common dolphins! They breached and rocketed out of the water, non-stop! Out close to 12.5-miles from Mission Bay, we re-sighted the same Blue whale we saw in the morning trip! It hung out in the same area and had short dive times of 7-8mins. On the last dive, it turned down and we got to see the tip of the tail! Mola mola were seen throughout our journey and possibly a Brown Booby was sighted on the AM trip.
Come beat the heat and join us for fun out at sea!
