We had a fabulous day out there! Our morning trip had about 130 long beaked common dolphins roughly 2 miles out of Mission Bay. We pushed further west and found 2 Fin whales about 9 miles out. We got some great looks as we stuck with them for several cycles. They got pretty close to us, popping up less than 100 yards off our portside. We also got to see a Mola mola feeding on Valellas. Our afternoon trip set out to the southwest and found a group of about 30 Risso’s dolphins roughly 5 miles out. We made it out to 9 miles again and found another 2 Fin whales! We stuck with these two for several cycles as well and got some really good looks. We were welcomed back to Mission Bay by a small group of inshore bottlenose dolphins.
