We had an awesome morning out on the water! We set out to the SW and found a pod of ~500 Long-beaked Common dolphins cruising to the west! We got great looks as they zoomed up to us to ride the bow and surf our wake! We continued out toward deeper water and sighted some big spouts on the horizon! There were 5 in the area! We got great looks at some social behavior which is not a common sight when they are so focused on feeding. At one point there were 3 in a line playing follow the leader! The first blue split off and while the pair continued to the north. It was non-stop fun!
Wacky Whale Wednesday came in full force today! We had such a wonderful and action packed afternoon trip! We travelled southwest towards the 9-mile bank. We were 12.7 miles offshore at our furthest point. We spotted multiple spouts and hung out with at least 3 BLUE WHALES!! We got really great close up looks at two of the three Blues. At one point, a blue whale popped up on our starboard, went UNDERNEATH our boat and resurfaced on our port side! The clear blue water and sunny skies made it very easy to see the entire outline of the blue whale’s body! On our way back we encountered a brilliant pod of ~150 long-beaked common dolphins. Always a fun time on the water. Please join us soon!
