Our Dolphriends were out and about this morning! We headed out west and then travelled up north along the drop-off until we reached the La Jolla Canyon. We saw several scattered pods of long-beaked common dolphins about ~200 long-beaked common dolphins spread out throughout the trip. We also saw lots of interesting feeding activity. We encountered a fairly large pod of ~20 offshore bottlenose dolphins! They were making massive splashes and tail-slapping.
Sunny skies and calm water were on the menu for our afternoon trip! We headed up straight towards the La Jolla Canyon and found ~25 offshore bottlenose dolphins! We saw some tiny offshore bottlenose calves as well! Then, we travelled south along the drop-off and encountered ~50 long-beaked common dolphins! They came up right next to our boat and put on a wonderful show! Can’t wait for all the fun wildlife we’ll see tomorrow on the Privateer!
