We had a fun nautical ride on the Privateer! For our morning tour, we found a small pod of ~15 Long-beaked Common dolphins feeding on small schooling fish! We continued out to the west and spotted a few spouts on the drop-off, we waited but it seemed to be a long-winded whale! We continued to the south and found a huge pod of ~150 Long-beaked Common dolphins cruising to the south. On our way in, we were alerted to another baleen whale! We couldn’t hang out for very long, but saw the spouts!
Saturday is for the BLUES! We found a massive blue whale hanging out near La Jolla in about ~150ft of water. Blue whales are deep divers, capable of diving down up to ~3000ft of water. So, this blue whale was hanging out in very shallow water. We hung out with the blue whale for several breath cycles, it was going down for ~8-14 min dives. Then, we travelled out further west and encountered a massive pod ~150 long-beaked common dolphins. We saw so many little calves porpoising out of the water! We have another trip going out this sunset so please stay tuned!
Our blue whales this evening were dolphinitely not on a diet! They don’t count silly krill-ories like us humans. They were eating some KRILL tonight! We found two blue whales feeding around the Scripps Canyon in La Jolla. They were feeding in about ~450ft of water. We even saw a beautiful RAIN-BLOW! We also saw a massive male California sea lion swimming around our boat. Always a magical time on the water. Please join us for some summer fun in the sun!
