We had a nice day on the water with sightings of 2 different species of toothed whale! We set out to the west and spotted a small pod of ~30 Offshore bottlenose dolphin hanging out just before the drop-off. They popped up all around us and we got great looks as they breached nearby! We spotted a couple cow/calf pairs in the pod. They continued south while we went north and up off La Jolla we spotted some big splashes! We hung out with ~200 Short-beaked Common dolphin playing near the drop-off! At one point we were completely surrounded! On the edge of the pod, we spotted at least 10 cow/calf pairs all hanging out in one area. There were some teeny tiny calves that were attempting leap out of the water and some were only getting halfway out! Baby dolphins always put a smile on the passengers faces! The ride home was nice and smooth with the sun peeking out every now and again.
