What a STUNNING night it shaped up to be! Right as we were running out of hope – thinking that we wouldn’t even be able to get to the dolphins reported a few miles away —OUT OF NO WHERE— THREE humpback whales decided to make our night absolutely unforgettable! We charged north but with less hours of daylight we have less time for searching as we raced against time Captain Mayer sighted a spout out of nowhere! We changed direction and glued our eyes to the horizon – we waited for what felt like forever and we saw nothing. Then – THREE humpbacks showed up behind us, we were able to spend some good time with them and in the last surfacing before we had to leave, They errupted from the water JUST FEET from our boat! Everyone got incredible looks. The warm golden light of sunset reflecting off of the dark iridescent skin of the humpbacks. While we were waiting, a very tenacious baby mola mola decided it wanted some attention too – it did its best breaching whale impression. Very cute.
