Join me in wishing our Head Captain Bryan farewell! After 7 years here at San Diego Whale Watch, he is moving onto a new chapter! Tonight was his last trip! We will miss him! We had a Whale of a trip! Captain Bryan helped us find a pair of Gray whales, ~5 Pacific white-sided dolphins and a big pod of ~150 Long-beaked Common dolphins!
The Gray whales were traveling slowly to the south in about 100 feet of water! They were up for a couple of breaths and down for 3-5 minutes. We even noticed one of the whales turn and roll at the surface! We pushed out to the drop-off and cruised north. Once we turned in, and hung out with ~150 Long-beaked Common dolphins that were traveling south. Plenty of cow/calf pairs were sighted cruising beside our boat! We picked up the pace and they followed suit! They launched out of the water racing toward our bow and our wake! We had the best sunset to top the night off!
We hope you’ll join us for a trip soon! Gray whales are coming down in a steady flow!

Vanessa
