Today marks only the third time in our company history that we’ve seen a SPERM WHALE — the world’s largest toothed whale!
Around 12:45 we got a radio call from fishermen offshore saying they’d spotted one. Cue absolute chaos in the wheelhouse… maybe a little screaming… and off we went! On the way out we buzzed past some playful bottlenose, then with just minutes to spare we saw it: that iconic 45° angled blow off our port side. A few minutes later, up came the fluke — and just like that, it vanished into the deep. These whales can stay down for over an hour, so we had to head back in to meet our sunset crew.
And sunset did not disappoint. MORE squid eaters! A very silly pod of Risso’s dolphins who were jumping, rolling, doing backflips — total goofballs. This usually shy species was putting on a comedy show.
A stellar sunset and a beautiful day on the water. 💙
