LOOOONG day. Windy ocean. Lots of searching. And then… JACKPOT.
We pushed way down the coast, almost into Mexico, and found ourselves in the middle of a sunset buffet with two young humpback whales and a few hundred dolphins!
At first, we wondered if orcas might be nearby since they’ve been frequenting the area. Rapid fire spouts on the horizon had us guessing hard until we got close enough to see – two very surface active humpbacks huffin and puffin between feeding dives!
Then one of them stole the show.
The young whale launched COMPLETELY out of the water in an incredible full breach before swimming straight over to our port side for a quick close-up hello! Between the whales, dolphins, and a gorgeous sunset, it was the perfect reward after a very long day on the Pacific. 🐋✨🐬🌅
