For once, this is the kind of traffic we LOVE in San Diego. π
The humpbacks are heading south in FORCE this year, and they’re staying close to shore! Last October and November, we were thrilled to see a whale a day fairly consistently.
THIS YEAR? It’s a whole different story.
We’ve been seeing pairs of humpbacks, larger groups traveling together, and even what appear to be competition pods making their way toward Baja! π€―
Today, we spent time with a calm, relaxed pair of humpbacks. One whale had glowing white pectoral fins that revealed its position underwater long before it surfaced. It looked like a giant underwater lantern moving through the blue. β¨
And it’s not just the numbers that have us excited…
These whales are THICK. Healthy, well-fed, and looking fantastic. πͺπ
If this is what the migration looks like now, we can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring.
What do you think we’ll find tomorrow? π
