BLUES BABY! Yep, we were part of the 1% of people who EVER see one in their life today! WAY out of season after a summer severely lacking in them, this was a delightful surprise! This Blue whale appeared to be in good body condition, coming up with no rhyme or reason, 11 min dive, 13, 25, 11, but we spent great time observing the largest animal on earth. Nothing quite takes your breath away like that, an ethereal other worldly, vibrant saphire glow becoming larger and larger sub surface- until eventually the whale reaches the surface and a percussive blow of air – erupts from their blow hole at 200mph – loud enough to hear and with though force you can almost feel the air shifting around you. Blue whales are more of a mottled iridescent silver color, and they seem like they just keep going on forever, slithering back beneath the depths. We were lucky to catch JUST ONE glimpse of this whales tail – which can span up to 25 feet wide! Wider than our vessel with a capacity to hold 150 people. JAW dropping!
On our sunset cruise we encountered a huge aggregation of bottlenose dolphins! maybe 250 between the two pods! The were cruising the drop off, and likely hunting squid in that area of upwelling.

Never know what’s going to happen out here, come out and see what surprises are in store!
