We had a whale of morning trip! Out to the west we noticed a massive spread of thousands of birds! They were diving indicating they were feeding. Once we got to the drop-off, we spotted a small pod of ~25 Offshore bottlenose dolphins! They were moving quickly to the north. We noticed their small puffy spouts as they came up for breaths. There were a few cow/calf pairs that were fun to look out for as they leaped playfully near our boat! We observed bow-riding and surfing next to our boat! Captain Bryan noticed some larger spouts to the west of us! We hung out with 3 Humpback whales! We didn’t know it at the time as there were only 2 up at a time while we observed them, but the photos revealed three! There were two smaller likely sub-adults, one with a nick in the dorsal fin and a third larger one hanging out together! We got to see their tails and as they went on short 3-5min dives!
This Afternoon, we headed out on calm seas and unlimited visibility, after some searching we were able to locate about 50 long beaked common dolphins, as they raced around hunting for food. We could see a massive feeding frenzy – with thousands of seabirds, even more dolphins and who know what else – So we’ll be back out to search shortly!
