We had an amazing morning with our second sighting of Gray whale! We also enjoyed a super fun and energetic pod of ~400 Long-beaked Common dolphins! To start our trip, we cruised out of the Mission bay jetties and only half a mile from shore we enjoyed catching up with a single southbound Gray whale! We got great looks as it surfaced for 3-4 breaths and went down for 4-5 min dives! We got slight glimpse at its beautiful tail a few times. We waved goodbye to our new Gray whale friend and continued out and caught up with a huge, fast-moving pod of ~400 Long-beaked Common dolphins! Once we were about 1/2 a mile away, they began to stampede toward us! It was absolutely exhilarating as they raced all around our boat! Many passengers were squealing with excitement! We enjoyed watching the cow/calf pairs leap out of the water beside us! There were some cheeky show-off dolphins too! We ventured up the coast in search for more and at the same time took in the sights!
We have TWO more trips to go! We will update you soon!
