Whales and dolphins all day… AND a last‑minute MUGGING!

We had an incredible day on the water—the kind that got me hooked in the first place and made me realize that life is way better at sea than on land!

We ran two trips today, and both had two fin whales and long‑beaked common dolphins. We got great looks on both trips, but the sunset trip was the benchmark. We set out searching, found awesome dolphins everywhere, and saved the best for last!

As the sun sank into the horizon, we were starting to get a little nervous that we might not find whales… but Capt. Brian spotted a spout at the last minute and decided to go for it! What followed was an AMAZING fin whale interaction.

There were two fin whales in the area, but one of them was VERY boat‑curious—surfacing RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR VESSEL, diving briefly, then coming up RIGHT NEXT TO US again and again! This whale seemed just as curious about us as we were about it.

There’s still tons of particulate in the water—denser than yesterday—and we even saw auklets feeding at the surface. All great signs that the big baleen whales are here… and they already are!

Days like this are what it’s all about
