The Pacific has been so generous to us these past few months — epic encounter after epic encounter. Some days it hardly feels real.
Today kept that streak alive… whales on both trips!
Our afternoon kicked off with a fin whale racing down toward Mexico! This whale had places to be — it practically escorted us all the way to the border. Since we can’t follow into Mexico, our evening trip took us back north… and that’s where the magic continued.
Right along the drop‑off, we found a lively pod of short‑beaked common dolphins foraging. This group was on fire — leaping, playing around the boat, and the babies were launching extra high and wiggling all over the place. The cutest kind of chaos.
Then we caught up with a HUGE humpback whale! Its spout was so massive we initially thought it was a fin whale. This beauty was doing 8‑minute dives with 3‑minute surface intervals, and lucky for us… it was a fluker! Nothing gets the boat cheering like a big, beautiful tail throw. We’ve been missing these whales this spring — so good to sea them back in the mix.
