Massive dolphin party to the north today — and we were right in the middle of it.
We set out this afternoon and almost immediately found HUNDREDS of short‑beaked common dolphins just off the drop. They were blasting out of the water again and again, sometimes 10 dolphins airborne at once, launching 15 feet out of the water like they were trying to touch the sky.

We kept exploring and came across a smaller pod of long‑beaked commons voraciously devouring a baitball. Apparently every bird in San Diego got the memo -hundreds of them diving, circling, and streaming in from every direction to join the frenzy.

Spring energy is here, and the ocean is buzzing.
