A breaching whale? How lucky are we! We ran out to the west and quickly found a pod of short‑beaked common dolphin that were in their best form — leaping out of the water and putting on a show for everyone on board! Then we got to hang with the coolest humpback whale. It breached once maybe 20 ft from the bow, taking EVERYONE’S breath away! Then it zoomed around the area, maybe feeding, but it located a kelp paddy and played around with it like a golden retriever finding a puddle after fresh rain. It rolled around with the kelp on its head and even blasted some bits of kelp into outer space with that powerful exhale (you can see it in the photo if you look closely).
