We got a BLUE WHALE! And so much other wildlife today.
The morning took us way out to the drop, where we found 150+ short‑beaked common dolphins racing around, feeding, and leaping SO HIGH out of the water. Our search led us to a pod of 5 bottlenose cruising through some glassy water, and eventually a curious minke whale! We stopped to watch it for a while, and it came RIGHT OVER to the boat and swam underneath us — giving us great looks at those famous minke mittens!
The GRANDE prize was our ENORMOUS blue whale this afternoon!
It’s an extra‑rare day to see a blue whale — AND in blue skies. We watched this LEVIATHAN of the depths radiating a VIBRANT sapphire‑blue glow. Their powerful exhale — about 1,300 gallons of air blasting out of that blowhole — feels like thunder rattling the atmosphere!
