Orcas in San Diego AGAIN!
This afternoon we RACED back offshore to see if we could catch up with the Killer Whales again… and WOW, did we succeed.
On our first trip, they were busy feeding. This time? They were celebrating.
The whales were doing what we can only describe as happy belly dances, rolling upside down beneath the boat and showing off their bright white undersides. They were incredibly boat-curious, swimming right under us belly-up and giving us the best views imaginable.
And then there was the cartwheel.
That’s honestly the closest thing we can compare it to. One whale launched headfirst out of the water, halfway upside down, then twisted its entire body before finishing with a sassy flick of the tail.
We spent over an hour with this incredibly rare species, watching them do their thing in the wild. There’s simply nothing else like it.
Being around Killer Whales feels like stepping into a time warp. Every time they dive, it feels like an eternity waiting for them to resurface, even though it’s only a few minutes. Then suddenly it’s time to leave, and somehow hours feel like minutes.
Days like these are why we never stop looking. Wild, unpredictable, humbling, and absolutely unforgettable.
