So we heading west out to the ocean to cool down with an entirely full boat! Unusual for a Monday afternoon trip, but getting in the pleasant sea breeze made it more bearable than being on land.
On the drop-off, we saw some gentle splashes from a vastly increasing pod of ~500 long-beaked common dolphins.
Seeing the long-beaked commons felt like coming home to see familiar and welcome friends after a weekend of seeing so many unexpected things.
The visibility in the depths was extremely clear and a unique perspective we don’t always see with dolphins.
There’s still no shortage of flying fish out there and mobula rays surfing around the boat and leaping. An unknown shark was briefly spotted and a common murre.
As the heatwave continues, so do the weird sightings we’re having out on the pacific.
We’ll be on the water tomorrow.
