21 HUMPBACK WHALES IN ONE DAY?! 🤯🐋
It’s feeling a whole lot like BAJA out there!
Today was absolutely packed with surface activity: tail lobbing, breaching, and pec-slapping in every direction. There were spouts on the horizon from the very beginning of our trip to the very end.
We’d be cruising parallel with one group of whales during a surface interval, and then they’d decide to get right into our bubble. Time and time again, whales surfaced RIGHT NEXT to Privateer. When an 80,000-pound animal with a lung capacity of over 1,000 gallons surfaces just 30 feet from your vessel, you don’t just hear it… you FEEL it. The atmosphere literally rattles around you.
Most days we’re focused on finding a whale.
Today, we had CHOICES.
When one group dove, another surfaced. Everywhere we looked, there was another blow, another splash, another whale.
Both trips saw 10+ humpbacks, giving us TONS of time to observe these incredible animals. We even caught glimpses of some familiar faces from years past: Batman for sure, maybe Snowflake, and several others we’re still working to identify!
If there was ever a time to get out on the water, it’s THIS weekend. The whales are here, and they’re putting on a show. 🐋🔥
