We hung out with two awesome pods of Long-beaked Common dolphins! Within both pods were nursery pods with some teeny tiny calves!

We left Mission bay and cruised straight out to the west and found the first pod at the drop-off. They were milling about, and not going anywhere fast. They popped on both sides of the boat and we got great looks as some came up to ride the bow. We also spotted a spunky juvenile dolphin that tail slapped over and over! We waved goodbye and followed the drop-off to the north. We found flying fish, several splashes from sharks and Mobula ray’s breaching! We got up to La Jolla and spotted the second smaller pod of ~100 Long-beaked Common dolphins that were slowly traveling north. They were inquisitive with the Privateer and we enjoyed watching them zoom around the boat! Check out the photos for a really small calf cruising next to mom! We picked up a Mylar balloon along the way and enjoyed the stunning coastline views!
