Our Monday excursion took us beyond the drop-off to look for wildlife, though plenty of food was seen on the fish finder closer to shore.
A very distinct spout was seen 2-3 miles away and we darted to the north west on its course where a large fin whale appeared! It was keeping to the same area and staying relatively close to the surface but changed up its breath cycles frequently, though never kept us waiting for more than 12 minutes. Some breath cycles included 7 breaths giving us some really good looks. We all enjoyed the “whale glow” of its lower right jawline.
About 50~ long beaked common dolphins came along for a brief ride while we followed the fin further west, making for a baleen and toothed whale day!
We have trips throughout the week that aren’t overly crowded, making for a great time to have a more personalized feeling whale watch adventure.
Come join us!
