Spectacularly beautiful day on the water today! We headed out this afternoon and sighted a ton of birds off a few miles off the coast, near the drop. When we got there, we found THOUSANDS of dolphins, some tightly packed together – some more spread out but ALL zooming about havin a blast! When this evening rolled around, we headed out with gorgeous cloud cover, glassy seas and endless visibility! We immediately sighted TWO pods of dolphins, one of bottlenose, and some commons in the other direction.
We went to hang out with the larger of the two first as the bottlenose tend to be more rare – they cruised in dreamy sunset light and launched out of the water doing upside down back flips over and over again! The long-beaked commons were on their most mischivious behavior – stampeding in the masses and leaping out of the water with SO MUCH force!
