The great migration of Gray whales is in full swing! FIVE Gray whales hung out with us for over an hour today. We headed north to our “sweet spot” for finding whales this year and spotted them almost immediately. They were crawling slowly to the south, taking plenty of time to get a little flirty with each other.
When we find these whales so close to their breeding grounds, it’s not unusual to see mating behaviors. And when it comes to whales, it takes three to tango — two whales floating in love and one whale acting as the support crew. We watched two leading whales and three others rolling around together, flashing pectoral flippers and showing off some flukes.
It’s prime time for Gray whales, so get your butts on a boat!
