We are so happy to be back in action!! On our first trip, we hung out with a happy Humpback, and on the second trip we hung out with a quad pod of Gray whales!
This morning, we set out to the southwest, and only a mile from shore we noticed some splashes to the south of us. A small pod of ~10 Pacific white-sided dolphins popped all around us! We sighted more dorsal fins and observed a pod of ~20 Long-beaked Common dolphins! The mixed pod was likely feeding, as there were plenty of birds hovering around them. We pushed out to the west and hung out with a Humpback whale that was slowly traveling to the south. We got great looks as it surfaced right in front of the beautiful snow-capped mountains! While waiting for it to surface, it surprised us all by surfacing behind the boat! Some lucky passengers got amazing looks as it lifted its flukes for a sounding dive!
On our afternoon trip, we were not even out of the jetties when a pair of Offshore Bottlenose dolphins raced up to us to surf our wake! Once we got out to the Pacific, we set out to the west, and once we reached the drop-off we caught up with a fun quad pod of northbound Gray whales! They were traveling very close to each other and on different timing. On one of the cycles, we observed one whale surface while another lifted its flukes and another arched! It was like seeing the full body of the whale across three different individuals! Lol
We have one more trip coming up! We will update you soon!
