Fin Spring Fling!
Back down almost to the border for our Monday trips where we drove parallel with the kelp forest down past San Diego Bay, to where the eating is good for the baleen whales this week.
A handful of common dolphins escorted us to a huge bird pile where cormorants were so full they could barely take off.
Beyond the birds a series of spouts in many directions were seen!
The spouts we saw were very tall and narrow followed by dark backs and the unmistakable pronounced fin of a fin whale! And we have 3 feeding on krill in the area!! 2 had synced up their breath cycles and were hanging out close together. We also got to see a younger humpback that joined the party. Making for a 2 species of baleen whale day!
Conditions are gonna continue to be cool, calm and collected all week. Come join us on the Pacific.
