Breaching Juvenile Humpback Whale Delights Passengers

Breach-fest 2026!!!

We had a blast out on the water this morning with a friendly little humpback whale! At first, Captain Michael spotted a fin whale blow in the distance. The fin was big and beautiful but took a deep dive and left the area. Luckily, a juvenile humpback was nearby! Passengers and crew had fun timing the breath cycles. We were in luck, this whale spent a long time at the surface for great views. On the way back to the dock, a couple common dolphins came by for a bow ride!

Our afternoon trip had a big surprise in store. We saw a humpback from a distance and started to move in a little closer. Upon our approach, it decided it was a great time to FULLY BREACH! A breach is when a whale “jumps” or launches itself out of the water! We were happy to see it but usually, breaching is a “one-and done” behavior. This whale decided today was BREACH-FEST 2026! It continued breaching and chin slapping for 50+ times and CONTINUED to do so after we departed for home! On our way, we caught up with about 20 short-beaked common dolphins that played in our wake.
